and the company is complaining about how much it is costing them to find out why. The new heater is a BradfordWhite one ("contractors use them..." they said . I let them put it in my 84 yr old Mom's house. "The best...etc" The former one from the '80's was leaking floods. and getting hotter and hotter , scalding!)

Took 2 min to get tepid water up through a heated house,or longer, then minutes longer for hot. This is "normal" ? It's better now after they were there again, but still slow, and then they did something to reduce the water pressure whcih was fine. Should they keep charging for this on-going "fixing" or start over?
Other problems: the small boiler next to the heater, going great, suddenly stopped working. Both are gas. The boiler heats the one room my Mom stays in all day. It's 38' in there today. I think they turned off the water or gas line to it or something, unwittingly. They want to charge a 89$ service charge to look at it!

Also, the furnace regularly "poofs" a cloud of gas just before igniting - this is OK they say. Is it???? I had a headache for 4 hours because my face was there when I was looking at stuff.
HELP!!!

First thing I would do is to get a hold of the owner of the service company. Tell HIM in no uncertain language (be nice though) that THEY installed it NEW and it should work like a new WH.

ALSO, tell HIM that if they do not send someone to fix the problem IMMEDIATELY, and at no charge, you are going to call the town, county, or whatever local jurisdiction covers gas installations in your area and file a complaint.

:alarm: You have a potential disaster waiting to happen if the furnace 'poofs' gas before lighting.

:alarm: There is a DANGEROUS CONDITION PRESENT!

TELL THEM THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE SINCE YOU DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THEY INSTALLED THE HWH!

We can help you at that point, but you need to make some phone calls first!

If you smell gas, call your utility and have THEM make a report! THAT will get things moving!

BTW----That IS a top of the line HWH as far as I am concerned. What is wrong is the crappy installation they did.
