I have an SG1000 and recently ran into a problem with the dryer continuing to run even though the control display is blank (indicating everything is off). Note, the drum is turning, but there is no heat. When I do turn the dryer on through the control panel, it continues running, but heats up. I tried replacing the control panel w/curcuit board (I have an extra :) ), and no change to the problem. The only way to shut off the dryer is to unplug it (in my case I use a switched power strip). I do hear a solenoid or relay clicking when I shut the power on/off, but I'm not sure what part it is  . The clicking implies that part is probably working, but it shouldn't be getting power without turning it on through the control panel. Anybody have any ideas?

Hello dashms. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Very possible the motor solenoid sticks closed. Control panel activates the motor solenoid. Which in turn connects the motor directly to the power source.

When the circuit board electrically disconnects from the solenoid, the motor contacts stick and the motor does not shut off automatically at the end of the drying cycle.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the most likely possible problem may be. They will need the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance parts dealers are an excellent source for original replacement parts and problem resolving matters. Dealers are listed in the phone book under appliances.

Be sure the electrical power to the appliance is turned off, before attempting any repairs or services. Always check for gas leaks whenever moving the appliance and/or a service or repair includes any connection of a gas part.
