IM driving myslef crazy. I have a house that has Cellular Style (honey comb) blinds.
If i ever raise the blind.....it takes a good 20 minutes to get them to come back down again. YOu have to fight and fight to get them to come back down. The little catch mechanizm grabs on the way down.
Im wondering if they are just junk blinds or if oiling the wheel mechanizm that wants to keep the string from moving will help. Is there any adjustment on these things?
I bought the house and it had them in it. Every blind in the house does the same thing so id imagine it is somthing that can be adjusted or fixed as i wouldnt thing they would all be bad. I just dont know where to start to do this the proper way.
Please help!
Thanks Everyone

No adjustment....NO OIL!! For most cellular shades you must hold the cord at a 45 degree angle toward the center of the shade to lower them.

ya thats what im doing.....that bugger wont release or it will release for like 1/2 inch and lock up. If i help it down by taking weight off by lifting the bottom it helps a bit but extremely difficult to get them to go down. I would think there would be a small spring or somthing behind the gear to help it stay unlocked until you brought the string to more of an upright normal postion.
They must be junk. Ive wrote the company to see if they have any ideas or will replace. They are not cheap to replace.......i priced out one and it was almost 40 bucks.

Ive got an email out to them. Ill see what they say. These blinds seem like they should work with no problem. The company looks big enough where they should be repitable and good quality.
Oh well...like i say....we will see what they say.

Yes, we bought a couple shades from a home improvent store and they must be made by Bali because they came in a Bali box but said Springs. We bought one for our two-story foyer window and it is a piece of junk as well. The cords constantly get tangled and the brackets are breaking and it only goes down half-way now. I'm ready to trash them.

Good to know!
I recieved a response today but just asked for the numbers on the stickers of each blind etc...which i included in my original email. I emailed them again with the same information. WE will see if they catch on this time :)
Im thinking im going to just trash this junk. IM wondering of anyone can make a recommendation to a quality cellular blind that works well?
Id like to get the ones with no string maybe.......that might be nice. Or maybe ill go with the Faux Wood slats...although i think those would look funny in my 1 story rambler. It would be nice to let more light through though without showing all the passers by my entire living room or perhaps me walking around in my Pjs......
The shade doesnt allow any view or much light where the shade doesnt provide the same insulating as the cell shades. Im really at a crossroads here.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Those Cellular shades are nice, especially for people who have kids, as they won't get tangled in the cord. Faux wood blinds are nice but I really like real wood. We had real custom wooden blinds but I think we trashed them, as we have intense afternoon summer sun and heat and they began to warp and dry out the lift cords and snap. I really like what Hunter Douglas has to offer and the lifting systems they offer. However, they are on the high-end of prices. My second choice would be Levolor because they have been around for a while as well.
Choose whatever suites your needs and price range and go for what you like best.
Of all the window coverings out there, I still like the simple, 1" aluminum blinds.
As for my Springs cellular shades, there's no hope!
Goodluck with your decision.

If you take the problem shades to a local graber dealer they could send them away and have each one restrung for about 30$ each..
