I am picking a paint and finish for a basement bathroom. The room is ~ 6' X 6' with a shower stall.
I'll be using Benjamin Moore Regal paint. I generally like the look of flat paint and I like the idea of a matte finish (ie, cleanable), but I'm not sure if matte is a good idea in a bathroom. Since it is in the basement, it will not get as much use as the 2 upstairs bathrooms.
Should I be using a more eggshell or satin finish, or will a matte finish stand-up to the use this bathroom will likely get.
I have a connection so that I can get the BM matte paint for just a few dollars more than an eggshell, so cost is not an issue.

Benjamin Moore say's, "It's more scrubable than semi-gloss."
I have used it in kitchens but not bath rooms yet. I just don't know how it holds up to mildew like a semi-gloss does.

If you are using a non K&B paint, you may want to add some mildewcide to it. While it won't be as effective as real K&B paint, it should help.

K&B = kitchen and bath
K&B paints are specially formulated for optimum wear in kitchen and baths.

I this room gets a good deal of moisture even once in a while, a "Bath" paint will be your best choice. Sherwin Williams has this product designed for steamy rooms. Guaranteed to last. Satin or semigloss only. I am amazed years later in rooms showered everyday it has no ill effects.
