Hello,
I'm wondering if it's possible to paint brown aluminum soffit. If so how? I want to get rid of that color and had considered replacing it, but it's in good shape, and if it can be painted...

Thanks,
Jst

Aluminum siding/soffits get painted all the time. Make sure it is clean and then use a quality exterior latex house paint. Adding emulsa bond to the first coat of paint will help to insure a good bond. 1 coat of paint is sufficent if spraying it on.

What's a good method for cleaning vented soffits? Certainly not pressure washing as water would get into the vents/attic.

The vents do pose a problem. I normally pressure wash the house but not directly wash the soffit. It usually gets cleaned well enough by the mist and run off from the siding and fascia.

It would be simple enough to spray a cleaner on the soffit with a pump up garden sprayer but the trick is in rinsing it well without getting more than a small amount of water thru the vents. Carefully using and controlling a water hose should accomplish the task. Use as little water pressure as you can get by with and pay attention to the angle of the spray.

The good news is that the soffit usually doesn't get as dirty as the rest of the house and any oxidizing is usually minimal.
