:wall: i have some decorative art panels made of burlap with glass artwork on them. the burlap is discolored and i want clean it without discoloring the glass artwork...ideas please!!!:confused:

As far as I know, burlap is dry clean only, and I can't see a dry cleaner wanting to be responsible for it. I think in this case, you may want to find a professional that cleans oil paintings on canvas and the like, to have it cleaned.
If you try cleaning it yourself with any sort of water solution, what will probably happen is that it may shrink and shed, making a mess of it. Sorry, but I don't think this is a DIY job.

Professional cleaning is recommended. A local art gallery that specializes in restoration may be helpful. Burlap can be raw/natural, dyed, backed or unbacked, and tends not to respond well to traditional cleaning methods. If the burlap has 'faded,' it is likely that it is dyed. The dye is unstable and would not respond well to solvent cleaning methods. Water-based cleaning methods would likely result in shrinkage and further fading of the dye. Burlap tends to be vacuum only for cleaning. Burlap can, however, be painted.
