Has anyone used the DIY spray foam kits made by Handi Foam? They are marketted by several web sites, and cost around 20% of what a local spray foam dealer wants to charge me. Online videos make it look easy.
I'm in the southeast, so I don't need a super-thick layer, and it looks like it could work well for insulating the concrete exterior walls of my basement.

not yet but I am going to. That stuff is made by a company local to me. I spoke to a guy I know who has used it before and he said it was a snap to use and that it worked as advertised.
Hopefully I will be doing my project in a few days. I will try to post after and let you know how it worked out for me.

please please do. The product videos don't look as good as the Professional stuff I've seen on TV, but living where I do, my insulation needs are relatively small.
Let me know if you can get any good deals also :)
I'm going to need at least one of the 600 bt-ft kits
Thanks!

Haven't used it, I couldn't justify the cost (folded it into the whole insulation job, anyways), but do remember that there is a time limit between stopping and starting to spray again or the nozzles will clog/set-up. My suggestion is get a bunch of extra nozzles if you will be stopping and starting. Also saw it on This Old House (Tom Silva foaming a wall repair himself), worked like advertised.

I checked into this and it actually costs more than what the guy charges me now to spray foam. I get closed cell foam installed for $.85 a square foot at an inch thick. The handi-foam stuff costs about $1.07 for the same area but it's just for materials, no labor included. Actually no shipping or tax included in that either. I'd love to find a supplier that will sell it at 20% of pro costs. Any websites? I'd be the first in line to buy it.
