Will bamboo hold up as a stair tread material?

Bamboo stair treads are available. Their durability should be the same as that of a bamboo floor. Because stairs tend to be a high traffic area, wear of finish, as in other high traffic areas, may be an issue.

Look into Teragrens stair treads as they are high quality. Also, there are several different kinds of constructions, one with a full bull nose (no lip) and those with a lip. The full bull nose is usually over an 1" thick where the others are the same as the flooring but with a nose on the end (usually an 1-1/16")
The treads look great but will wear if heavy traffic or shoes are worn on them repeatedly.
