I have a 7-year-old Kenmore Elite Coldspot refrigerator (model 52602100) that has been making noise for the past few months. I haven't been real motivated to do anything about it since both fridge and freezer are working just fine. But the noise it starting to bother me. I can describe it as a whinny continous chirping that seems to be tied with the compressor motor. I am not familiar at all with the workings of a refrigerator, but am wondering if this is something I might be able to correct myself. Would it be simply making an adjustment somewhere or a total part replacement. Any advice would be appreciated.

it sounds like it might be the bearings in the motor in the fan motor underneath the fridge in the back might acting up,or maybe a piece of paper is caught in the fan blade or the fan blade is a little loose on the shaft? Try pulling the fridge out, take the cover off the back and see what's up. The coils underneath are probably due for a good cleaning anyway.

Thanks Daddy. I don't think it's a foreign object in the fan...it sounds too mechanical. I know it may be a dumb question, but can sprayed WD40 into the fan fix it or would that be harmful? Also, how are the coils cleaned...vacuum?
