Hello everyone, Happy new year in advance.
I'm new here, I found my pilot light off, tried to relight and it wouldnt stay lit, wire brushed the thermocoupler/pilot area, did not work so I replaced the Thermocoupler (36 inch.) from Home depot.
Now the pilot light is about 4 inches long and yellow, I am getting too much gas now, I can hear the gas traveling to the pilot now, before it was quiet and small blue flame.
The water heater works fine, the burner comes on when it has to and the burner flame is nice and blue, the pilot stays lit, but I noticed gas coming out of the vent orifice (small hole under the feed line assembly), first I thought it was leaking from the threads where the feed tube threads in but is the vent orifice.
I've read and being told that the lenght of the thermocoupler does not make the flame smaller or bigger. Please help.:(
