I'm at witts end....are there any dehumidifers that will last longer than 6 months? I have the 70 pint Sears and have replaced the fan motor 2 times in the same unit model # 580.54701. Is there another type of motor to install and is the a better over all unit I can buy I'm tired of Kenmore! I know that LG makes LG, Goldstar, GE and Kenmore so I figure all of these fall onto the same catagory of faulty fans. Would Comfort Air be one to try? I sure looks like the Kenmore from the outside, it may have same fan set up. Thanks George K

AS far as dehumidifiers go their is Santa Fe, April Air and then everything else. We install a lot of Santa Fe units. They are not CHEAP. But with an average life of about 12 years they do last. They have more capacity than the cheap ones you are buying now. Are cheaper to run than your unit and have MERV 11 filtration. What are you doing with your unit -square feet, basement, crawlspace etc and I can help you pick out a couple. I will say if your unit is only 6 mounths old Id replace the fan.

I have the Sears 70 pint in the crawl space which is 2500 sq. feet. I have the crawlspace sealed pretty tight and can control the humidity down there if I can only find a dehumidifer that will last. I have the unit apart so installing a fan won't be a problem. I do have the dehumidifer set to run continous for 8 hours on a heavy duty timer, then off for 6 holurs the on again for 4 hours. I can usually keep the humidity around 50%. If you need any additional info please ask. Thanks for the help, George
