Sister called me over...flood under washer. ( Machine is about 4-ish years old) I checked the supply hoses and drain hoses. All dry. Looks like the water is inside/under machine. I looked at the bottom cover....looks like about an hours worth of screws to get in there!!!!!!!

Questions: I don't have time ( New Years eve and all that) to TRY to look at it before the weekend, but it could wait IF there are some "likely suspect" problems that I could probably fix. I looked at a diagram online and see some internal drain fittings which look like they could be replaced. Are these the kinds of things which do go bad?

Sis is trying to make this decision: Should she look for a "new years eve sale" on a modest size/price machine at Sears or HD? If she can't wait for me, then a service call would probably cost at least 1/2 the cost of a new machine ( she would be shopping in the $400 to $500 range for a machine). If there is a good probability that I could take it apart Saturday and ID the parts, then order the parts, which presumably would not break the bank, then that is the other side of the coin flip.

In fact, is the bottom cover the way I would access this to get at whatever is wrong??

I know this is a fuzzy issue right now, but if anyone can offer any pearls of wisdom, it would be appreciated! Thanks you very much!!!!
