Hello First time poster here!
I am looking to get a Honeywell HE-220 for my 1,500 SF 2.5 year old house. I have two questions:
First: What type of maintenance is needed for this type of humidifier?
Second: From the arrangement of the equipment by my furnace I can easily choose between cold not-softened water, cold softened water or hot softened water. Is one "better" for this type of humidifier?
Thanks for your time! From looking at the other post, this form looks great!

Welcome aboard Chris.
First: What type of maintenance is needed for this type of humidifier?
Shutting off the water, removing the pad throwing it out.. Washing the pad holder, replace with new pad, close the by pass damper in the spring.. Fall, turn on the water line, Check to make sure pad/drain is in place, open bypass damper.

Most of us like hot, the water is soft, and hot water will add some more humidity into the air flow.
If you need help hooking up the unit, post back with your furnace's make and model#.
Have a Happy and Safe New Year!

Thank you for the information Jay!
I picked one up today!
I do have a question about placement of the unit. The instructions say to put it on the supply duct with the connecting duct to the return duct. Due to existing pipes in the way in my small utility room, I can't but the humidifier on the supply duct without moving those existing gas pipes.....my question is, can I install it backwards? Meaning, put the humidifier on the return duct and the connecting duct on the supply duct?
I'm not sure the model number of my furance...but it's a relatively standard, 3 year old, forced air, natural gas furance...
Thanks again for you advice!

Hi Chris,
yes, you can place it on the return.. That is much perfer way anyway..
Please get the model and make of the furnace, and I"ll be happy to help you wire it up.
