HI,
Great forum! 1st post!
I have a new home with a concord express. I have the
installer code and the installer manual. Everything is working,
but since I did not want monitoring, they did not hook the
alarm to the phone line (at all).
18-21 on the concord express board are unconnected.
The GE Security 10port telco module CC-TP0110 in the home run box below the alarm, has the security port connected to
a short RJ11 that just feeds back. All the phone lines in the house are 110 punch
downed on this telco board. The feed from the street is
punch downed on this telco board.
They left behind a RJ31X jack that looks like the ELK.
They left behind a cord that looks like the one in the ELK picture here:
http://www.hometech.com/learn/rj31x.html#EL
I want to hook up to the phone so I can send to my skytel
pager alerts.
I need a diagram or info on how to connect from concord
express board to rj31x to telco board security board in home
run. A picture would speak a thousand words! :)
I know that the security port on the telco board is supposed to make things easier, but I don't have enough experience.
I am confused where each end of the cable in the elk rj31x
picture goes.
THanks for any and all help!

Now, you will also need to connect the terminals on the RJ31x to the phone system, you will need to use 22/4 to the appropriate terminals, then crimp on a modular rj11 fitting to plug into the line siezure port on your phone distribution panel.

Hmm that's the link I had in my original post. Thanks for
trying to help me. Really appreciate it. But everything you
say flew right over my head.
what is 22/4 mean?
i'm still lost

Basic nomenclature: 22-4 = 22gauge-4 conductor cable.
However, you shouldn't have to do all that. That phone module you have has a jack that is labled RJ31x, it takes the place of the extra little jack you have. You do need to connect the cable to the terminals on the panel board, then simply plug it in. If your phone module is setup correctly, you should be connected in to the phone system with the alarm.
I'm not sure why they have a cable plugged ionto the security jack. This is a case where remote instruction has it's limits.

Go Gators!
So you are saying that I take that cable that is pictured
in the link I gave you. I screw the screw ends into the
concord express ports 18-21 board. I then just plug
the rj11 end into the telco board where it says security something
something?
Correct?
I don't need the rj31x box that is shown in the link I gave you? Correct?
THANKS!
(In all kinds of weather we all stick to-gethhhhhhhhh-er)

If the CC-TP0110 is set up correctly, then yes, it already has a RJ-31x jack built in, and all you should need to do is plug in that cord.

Excellent.
Ok, I tested it, and my home phones work when I hook
it up to alarm. Now I have to figure out how to get the wire
to run 2-3ft vertically in the wall between home run and alarm box.
Is it dangerous to use a metal coat hanger to do this?

Not at all. That is, in fact, most techs preferred tool for that job.

Ok! Went up from the home run with a coat hanger and
some fishing line taped to the top. Used another coat
hanger to hook the fishing line from the alarm panel.
Tied to the RJ11 of the cable and massaged it down to
the home run. Got caught up a couple of times on some
wires, but managed to get it through!
Off to try and program the pager now.
Fun stuff!

Ok, phone connections all work. I pick up the phone and
listen, set off an event to trigger page, alarm takes over
phone line, then lets go of phone line.
When it lets go, it is still connected to my pager company,
so I know it works.
However, sometimes it says wrong pager number, or whatnot.
Basically, it's lost.
Now I believe the problem is this: With only 24 digits/pauses
available, I am doing this:
[1800 # to pager service][PPPP][pager #][pound sign][1]
This is the sequence to get you to the point you can enter
a numerical page. Now, I believe the [PPPP] 4 pauses
are not long enough to get connected to the company,
so it goes in the weeds.
Is there a way to listen to the modem to hear the problem
exactly?
Can I use the cancel call waiting feature to extend my digits?
It says you get 8 digits for that...
Thanks!

:)
Well the cancel call waiting digits allowed me to get enough
digits to put enough pauses in that I am now consistently
getting it to work! Yipee!
Thanks so much to everyone who helped me! Fun project
for me today!
Happy New Year ALL!

One other question:
I am going to add a keypad.
It looks like these are all hooked up in parallel on the board.
I just unplug AC, unplug batter backup, Hook up to the 4
pins on the concord express board (where all the other keypads are hooked up already), Hook up the 4 wires to
the keypad, plug in the battery backup, plug in the AC.
Correct?
