Toilets, Sinks, Showers, Tubs and Disposals - turn 3 hole tub & shower into 1 hole?

Forgive me if this is a dumb question.

Is there any easy and aesthetically pleasing way to turn a 3 hole t&s into a 1 hole?

Right now, we have a fiberglass tub and shower with a 3 hole (hot, cold, and diverter) faucet. I hate it. 1.) its old, 2.) I hate 2 handle faucets.

Do they make a retrofit, 1 hole shower faucets that will mask the outer 2 holes?

If not, any suggestions on how to do this, other than tearing out the entire tub & shower unit and starting from scratch?

The only dumb ones are the ones you don't ask. You will need a 3 hole to 1 hole escutcheon plate to cover the ugly created by removing the hot and cold supply lines. See this link and travel down the page until you get to the smitty plates. You will need one with a center 4" hole to accommodate a new control valve.
