I've sprayed popcorn/stipple ceiling before but I borrowed a compressor. I'm planning on doing it again and just got a brand new Campbell Hausfeld 8 galon, 1.3max HP, 125PSI compressor for Christmas. It's the right size that I need to log around and do most small jobs and I'm wondering if this will be enough to use a hopper. It seems most hoppers only require 25PSI to operate. I know since its only 8 gallon I may run out of pressure before the hopper runs out of mix, but I don't mind having to stop a few times as it gets tiring and heavy spraying. I'm not doing a very large area, probably 600sq. ft of ceiling. I don't think the one I used before was much larger and was probably 20 years old and still did a good job.

It should be fine. I use a 11 gal 1hp air compressor when I spray texture. 20 yrs ago I worked for an outfit where we used those little tankless compressors to spray texture repairs [not a whole wall/ceiling]

Well 7 months and many other projects later, I finally got to spray last night. The compressor held 25 PSI(recommended pressure on the bag of texture) without an issue at all, I don't think it dropped passed 90-100 PSI. Ceiling looks great. Can't really lift my arms right now though. :p
