:wall: I know cars but not this stuff. Anyhow, I woke up this morning to a click noise coming from outside. I inspected farther and found that it was the outside unit making the noise. I was not running but the inside furnace (blower) was running. I tried resetting all the breakers with no success and obviously no heat. I took a panel off of the outside unit and then turned the power on. It kind of looks like a breaker it has a bunch of wires hooked to it and I could see a coil wrapping on the back side of it. It also had L1, L2, T1, and T2 where main wires are hooked up. This thing was doing the clicking. It would make contact then break contact when I tried to turn it on. It would not run at all because of this. My question is, can I just find out what this thing is and replace it or do you think it is something else. Thank you for any help. Merry Christmas and thank goodness for wood stoves!

Looks like the part I was describing is called a CONTACTOR. Think I can just replace this part? This is a Luxaire unit.

Is the contactor pulling in to run?
If it's not pulling in, check for low voltage to it.. Should read 24 volts.
If it's pulling in, and not running, check to make sure you re getting 220volts to it.
If yo are reading 220v on L1 and L2, check T1 and T2, if no reading, then make sure the contactor is pulled in.
