Hi all,
I've got a Dacor double stack elec wall oven. The bulb went bad a few days ago and last night I attempted to change it. It's a 40 watt, small, but regularly shaped bulb. Instead of doing the smart thing and just trying to unscrew the glass dome I unscrewed the two small phillips screws which were holding a metal frame (which held the glass dome) to the oven ceiling. Don't know why I thought that needed to be done.:(
When I attempted to pull out the glass dome, metal frame and bulb as one unit I heard something "pop" and felt some resistance when pulling on it. My wife (the smart one) asked if I had tried unscrewing the glass dome. I did,it unscrewed and I took out the bad bulb. When I screwed the glass dome back on and screwed the assembly back into the oven ceiling and shut the door I noticed the oven had no power. Nice job!!!!
I feel sure I must have disconnected a wire in pulling down the bulb assembly. My questions are as follows:
1) Is this what most probably happened?
2) If so is it something I should have a whack at or call someone in for? I'm reasonably handy but elec is not my forte. My guess is that it may entail taking the oven out of the wall as the hole for the bulb assembly is small and at the the back of the oven ceiling.
Thanks for all thoughts,
Vance

Step one would be to check the circuit breaker for the oven. The pop was probably a short circuit caused when you pulled out the assembly. If the circuit breaker did it's job, try re setting it. If the oven works okay, you were lucky. If the breaker kicks out again, it is time for a professional to check out the internal damage.

1st off, knowing your cooking skills, you most likely don't even need an oven. A microwave with chef boyardee ravioli should suffice.
