Why the change from a manual to a program?

Heat pump are made to be set and forget it...

They DO NOT recovery well like gas heat, and if you do set back, the t-stat will kick in the electric aux heat, and that will cost you more.

But if your new t-stat has an outdoor sensor to "Lock Out" the aux, heat, then you may be OK.

What is the model # on the new t-stat, and old t-stat?

Air Handler Model#?

Heat pump single or two stage?

My first floor has forced hot air ( Oil heat)
I put a second floor on and really not to familair with heat pumps. I thought it would be a upgrade
Old - ASYSTAT655A
New -602AF22MAA
Air handler 2TEC3f24b100AA

So you think its best to stay with the manual stat ?

Is this heat pump only heating the upstairs, and using oil for your main area all the time?

Not able to pull the file on this right now, but will post back.

Does the air handler have electric back up heat??

Go to your air handler, and find out what color wire is going to what letters.

I was not able to pull up any info in your equipment on line. so you'll have to help me.

Example.

Yes, you are best to set it and forget it.. Heat pump can't recover well like gas/oil can, and if you do set back, it going to turn on the eletric heat to help recover, and there goes your savings.

Set with the new one or keeping the old one?

I would put the new t-stat on the system down stairs.
