oil furnace keeps cutting off. I suspect condensation in the tank left empty over summer. When tank was filled, the condensation was stirred up. How long would it take it to settle? What is best way to remove water from the fuel? Suggestions? thank you.

You likely have other problems caused by or in addition to the water. The first thing I suggest is changing the nozzle, fuel filter, & pump screen. When you dump the filter if you see any indications of water, post back & we can proceed further.
