I have a Maytag Atlantis MAV7600AWW electric washer. If the load isn't small it won't spin out hard enough & the clothes are pretty darn wet when it's done. It also makes a loud CLANK when it stops. Thoughts?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Can you bypass the safety lid switch and see if you really have a water drain-out issue or if the basket just is not spinning fast enough? You might want to try to take the discharge hose out of the standpipe or laundry tub (however you have it) and let the water pump out into a 5 gal. pail to see how the water comes out. (It will blast out if it is normal and also you need to be prepared to shut off the machine!)
If belt driven, belt(s) may be loose. And/or if the motor is mounted on a slide track (have not tried to look up your machine, so I'm just mentioning some general stuff here), make sure that it can slide freely and spring)(s) are still connected.
You may have to make sure as much water is drained out of the machine as you can, and tilt machine on it's side to check out belts underneath. Be prepared to mop up some water if it comes out from between baskets and in the drain hose/pump.
The clank is most likely the braking action.

I'm certain that it's just not spinning fast enough. I had a repair man out recently who replaced the belts so that's not it. :(

How recently? Why did he come to replace belts?; for same reason? Was the problem fixed for a while after he replaced the belts?, or aren't you sure now? Was this done by an actual appliance repairman who would also know what other stuff to look for?

It was an authorized Maytag repair man but he told me to just throw it away. Odd. The problem was never fixed. This was a few months ago.

You've probably already has these things fixed since you posted before Christmas, but...
Sounds like 1 or 2 things: Thrust Bearing for the spin & Brakes for the clank. I've been disappointed in our Maytag Atlantis washer, but not ready to replace since it's only 5 years in service.
