All,
Had my first estimate at 7am yesterday morning. The second was at 4pm yesterday, but the guy hasn't emailed me the estimate for that yet.
This is for a Carrier system:
18.30 SEER, 9.00 HSPF
H/P - 25HNA936
A/H - FESANB004
15KW BACKUP
INFINITY CONTROL THERMMOSTAT
NEW REF. PIPING AT 3/8" & 3/4"
NEW ELECTRICAL TO AH FOR 15KW HEATER
$10,133
-$1,500 (INSTANT REBATE)
=$8,633
My comments: Should be a simple install. The AH is just on the other side of the wall from the outside unit, maybe 15ft of refridge line needed. Electrical box is about the same distnce from the AH on the other side of the basement.
If they install the 16SEER carrier unit, it is $1,747 less. This sounds way too high.
I currently have a 3-ton unit and my square footage is just under 2200.
I need all the HVAC gurus to share their thoughts with me on this.
Also, is there anyone in the Laurel, MD area who could beat this? I really would rather go with a Lennox unit anyway...I am looking at the XP19 dual-stage heat pump.

That's top of the line stuff. What kind of filterization are you considering ?
Price isn't that bad for what you're getting.

nothing special...no april air or any of that. Just a standard filter is fine by me.
I guess maybe it isn't that bad....just seems high for the amount of work that has to be done to install it.

That's high dollar equipment.
You may even be eligible for a tax rebate from the Gov.
You could get several more quotes from Trane, Lennox, York, etc.... just be sure they're quoting apples to apples.

Well, how about $2,000 less for H&C Heating and Cooling. A trusted company locally here in Laurel. This is for the XP19 with all the goodies. I called a friend that works for another company up in Baltimore and he said they couldn't even touch that price...and that he has heard nothing but great things about H&C....so I am going with them.
Thank you guys for your input though....I was kind of leaning toward the Lennox system anyway....so this has sealed the deal for me.
