Have a 20 yr old HP with a buzzing noise when interior unit is not operating. any ideas?

Sounds like the transformer is loose. Open the unit and tighten the screws that hold the transformer in place. Don't forget to turn off the power befor sticking tools or body parts in to the electric box.
