Just replaced a toilet and when I disconnected the supply line from the water shut off valve (which was in the off position) I noticed water dripping from the valve area. After I completed the toilet installation I reconnected the supply line to the supply (shut off) valve and noticed no leakage and the toilet tank was filling to proper height and holding. How does this happen? Does the supply valve still need to be replaced?

Hey Mohave

Very common for a little bit of leakage on a closed valve that isn't used very often. As long as its not leaking around the stem when its open, no need to replace it now. Unlikely it will be a problem. The bad thing is when it needs to be closed for a long period of time and it still dribbles.
