Does anyone know why my belt sander would just stop working all of a sudden. I tried different outlets, but it doesn't even sound like it's getting power. It's second hand, but worked great until a moment ago. Possibly a trigger?

The most likely thing is the power cord. Could also be the trigger. Easiest thing to do would be to take it apart and test the cord with a tester if you feel qualified to do that without getting zapped.

Hi deg
Also, how old is it? Get used much? Could be the brushes.

Hey guys. Thanks for responding. I think the sander is a few years older, but it was working great last night, then today when I was using it, I set it down and it hasn't worked since. It's a Craftsman 7.5 A0014 belt sander. I'm not sure what 'brushes' are, but I seem to remember my Lionel train transformer having 'bad brushes'. I'm not comfortable with testing myself, but if you have a safe way, I'll bite.
Thanks again,
Chris

Chris: does the trigger still "click" when you pull it? The brushes are carbon units which run against your motor arbor to transfer current to the armature. You will see two plastic "screw" like thingys on the side. Unscrewing them will allow the brushes to fall out. If they are worn excessively you may want to change them. Heck, change them anyway, since you have them out. The cord could have a broken wire in it. With the sander in one hand, pull the trigger and wiggle the cord both at the plug end and at the strain relief end against the housing. Post back with your findings.
