Hi,

I've recently had my Liftmaster Garage door opener receiver and transmitters changed from 315Mhz to 390Mhz due to interference found in the 315 range that has driven me nuts for months. Two service calls later, its finally fixed.

I've noticed the Concord 4 wireless operates at 319.5Mhz. I'm about to purchase a Concord system ... should I be concerned that interference has been found on 315Mhz? Will this affect how reliably the GE 319Mhz devices work?

The actual source of the interference has not been identified.

Thank you.

I don't think it would cause a problem, as it is not on the same exact frequency.

I'm ordering the Concord regardless of the concern. The garage service folks said they've run into situations where security systems have interfered with Liftmaster electronics. It seems possible any interference strong enough to affect the garage door could also affect nearby frequencies, such as the GE wireless devices.

I called GE who would not commit to an answer, no surprise there. They would only say one GE security system would not affect another nearby GE security system. Three of my four neighbors have systems in place, two CPIs and one custom - type unknown.

Thanks ...

It's a digital coding system, so the devices are fairly hard to interfere with. The GE/ITI wireless design is hardy enough that they haven't have to mess with it in 10-15 years. (The same cannot be said for DSC, for example)

The RF equivalent of "white noise" is the real enemy; it reduces the effective range.

Garage door openers are notoriously more fincky about RF interference.

Thanks again Ron. I did have some concern, but decided to move forward anyway. I should have all my equipment by Friday and will begin installation this weekend. It should keep me fairly busy :) I just love crawling under the house (ext. sirens)

There has been some strange interference around my home, affecting different frequency ranges. I should be ok with the GE sensors. Everything will be fairly centrally located within the home. Wireless range will not exceed 35 feet in either direction.

You get that in some locations, like near the flightpath of an airport, or near main power lines or big transformer installations.

I have one client where even walkie-talkies do not work in a 1000 foot radius of her house.
