Hi,

One of our toilets started to fill up the water tank every so often on its own with no flushing. It looks like that the water is leaking out somehow.
I replaced the flapper. However, it is still leaking. There are no signs of an exterior leak. What is the next best guess?

The seat that the flapper sits on may be cracked or have gritty buildup, on it. Thoroughtly clean the seat and feel for rough spots. if yes to rough spots, Fluidmaster makes a flapper with a new seat repair kit.

The seat "felt" very smooth to me. Is there any other possibility for a leak?

There is a small black tube which runs from the fill valve over into the refill tube in the middle of the tank. If that small black tube is stuffed down into the overflow, rather than being clipped above it, it will siphon water and cause the same symptoms as a leaky flapper.
