This Maytag washer model LAT9416AAE will keep filling at the start of the cycle and will not advance. The unit doesn't overfill it just goes out the drain. Any ideas

hi rich:

has the washer been there for a while or newly installed? The drain standpipe has to be above the tub level otherwise the water will be siphoned out. If that's ok, does the washer fill with water when it's off? If yes, you have a bad inlet water valve. If no, then the problem is most likely the water level control. before condeming a WLC, make sure the hose from the tub to the control is not obstructed.
