I bought a GE GNWH38F "Heavy Duty Household Filtration Unit" yesterday at Home Depot http://www.geappliances.com/smartwater/model_fs.htm?GNWH38F I intend to install it just before my water heater to try and remove sedimentation and keep the water heater, dish washer and showers cleaner. It says it supports a flow rate of 4 - 20 gpm.

Anyone have any experience with this unit?
Will this create a problem with running multiple water sources at the same time? Or will it be okay since I am just putting it before the water heater?

Thanks for the help on this.

I hope you haven't put the horse before the cart.

What are your water test results? Hardness? Iron? TDS? etc.

You should get any type of water treatment equipment unless you understand what it is you are trying to correct.

If the 'sediment' in your heater is iron, then that filter mostly like will do nothing as the iron is in solution when it enters but precipitates due to heat, for example.

If the sediemnt is sand, then how is it you are noticing it? It should settle to the bottom and collect and not come out of the faucets.

What made you decide to buy this particular unit? High levels of chlorine? Murky water? What are the simptoms of the shower and dishwasher that you are seeing?

Can you still box it up and take it back if you need to?
