Hi. I'm new to the forum however I have read the previous post on the subject of having an alarm panel call a cell phone. My question is have there been any break-thru's on this? I have an Ademco 4110DL panel. Are there digital dialers I could add to this so it would now call a cell phone?
Would this modification work or are we stuck with the same old problem of the hand-shake, etc.
Thanks for your advice. :thumbdn:

There have been add on voice dialers for years, like the ones made by USP (http://www.unitedsecurity.com/pages/dialers.html).
The 4110DL doesn't have any built in pager option, but the add-on units are generally triggered by the bell output, so it should work just fine.

Thanks for the info. on the voice dialers. I done a quick study on them then placed one on order.
Next question is what hardware do I need to add wireless to my 4110DL panel?
I've looked at some components and if I understand the advertisements correctly I could add a wireless keypad that has a built in system to interface the panel. Would that work or is there a better way?
What I wish to add is a keypad in the bedroom and maybe a portable panic button. But once I integrate wireless into the panel I guess I could add most anything.
Another question is what is the IC modem needed to use with the compass software. I am familiar with computers and modems, but don't know what the IC modem is.
Thanks for all your help. Open to any advice.:alarm:

As such things go, this is a pretty old system. It is not compatible with the 5800 series of wireless devices currently made by Honeywell/Ademco.
Really, If you are trying to get this level of functionality, you may wish to consider upgrading to a current production system.
As far as the Compass software, I will start with the standard statement that it, and programs like it from other brands are really intended for use by installers who set up and configure multiple similar systems. For a DIY they really don't help that much because the software can be more tricky to get running than simply programming the system via the keypad interface. You _still_ have to understand the basic programming systax and features of the system itself.
The software is _not_ useful on a day to day basis for operating or monitoring the system.
That said, the following modems are the ones that Honeywell lists as compatible with the software for connecting to Vista panels:
Accura 336 (DOES NOT INCLUDE FAX)
ADEMCO CIA MODEM
BizComp Intellimodem 1200 w/vol
BizComp Intellimodem 2400
Cardinal MB 2400EX
Hayes Optima 336 External
Hayes Smartmodem 1200
Hayes Smartmodem 1200 w/vol
Hayes Smartmodem 2400
Hayes Smartmodem Optima 2400 FAX96
Repko 336
Spirit336L
StarComm2400E
In many cases you will need to make configuration changes to the modem using the modem command language.
