I have an ariens 823. Im trying to start it and the pull start wont pull. I took the pull start off and it pulls freely so I know its not the pull. Does anyone know what I have to do? Its not old, maybe 5 years. Thank you so much in advance.

You mean 824? Check if the engine is seized. Unplug the spark plug, use a rubber band or tape to hold the auger clutch down and try (hard) to turn the auger. If it won't budge at all start praying. Of course this is a worst-case scenario but may as well eliminate that possibility first.
