Electronic Alarms and Home Security Devices - Ademco Vista 10SE with "OC"

Got the house with Vista 10SE, no code. It kept beeping until I hit any key to stop then it came back again somtime later. I unplug the battery and power for a year. Now there is a rash of break in in the neighbor. Plug back battery and power. One beep on keypad M6128 (but found the number M6673 on the flipout keypad cover) then "OC" on display. Press * + #, nothing. There are lights on all 3 keypads. Did I mess up the console? Did my battery run out of juice? I was trying to get installer code and set up in house alarm. Please help. Thank you.

OC indicates a break in the data wires from the panel to the keypad. Release the keypad from the back plate and make sure all wired connections are secure. Also, check at the panel to verify that the connections there are good as well.

After checking all 3 keypads, one is OC. I took that one out. Now it shows "d1". Hook up battery back, got 20. Then follow the info from this great forum, able to get installer code. Put in new code, Alarm works!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now I see 10SE has antenna stick out, might be I can add wireless?? How do you tell that you get wireless?

If there are antennae, then you have a wireless receiver. Look at the smaller of the two boards in the system cabinet, it will have a number on it like 5881L, M or H. That last letter tells you how many devices the receiver supports for this system.

Thank you RonFL. I will take a look tonight. Plan to replace one keypad with 6160. Is there any better keypad? and if the system has wireless I will add more wireless sensor to more doors. Thanks again. So happy that the Vista 10SE working again.

Nope, for a V-10se, the 6160 is about as good as it gets, and you need one if you plan on changing any zone programming.

I have 5881M. I will need 6160. Just bought 2 extra wireless 5816 door contact. What is the different 6160, 6160v, red 6160CR? Thank you.

The "V" model has a voice chip and has a limited vocabulary to audibly announce the stuff the keypad displays (trust me, you will turn that voice feature _off_ in a month, it's actually kinda annoying). In my opinion, its of use primarily for the visually impared.

The "CR" is intended for use in situations where the alarm system is being used as a light duty fire alarm as well as a security system (with the right add on devices, it meets the criteria for a commercial fire alarm).

6160CR is a red unit. Ok for programming, but you may not want in your house.

What is keypad 6160SNA?

Probably a 6160 with a specific company logo on it. On a guess, SecurityLink North America.
