My programable thermostat is located on an uninsulated outside wall.

My heater runs at least 35 minutes every hour, not all at one time.

I live in Chicago, on the ground floor, close to the lake. All pointing to cold. But there is ZERO insulation in my walls.

Would moving my thermostat to an interior wall help prevent the heater from turning on so often? And would I get an electrician or a heating service person to help me relocate the thermostat. If I have to move wiring, I'm not certain I have the tools or knowledge to figure how to rewire/move wiring to a new area of the place behind drywall.

An HVAC person can move it. But then it will not run and the room with outside walls will be cold. Id say leave it where it is. They are designed to run so let it do it's job.

Why are who put the tstat there is dumb and hard to say. You dont say just what other walls you have there. Wont look to good . But what if you put a small piece of fiberglass duct board behind the tstat??? Also check and see that there is no hole in the wall behind the tstat. if so fill it in.
