Hello -

I live in SE Pennsylvania and have a Trane XL15 4Ton heat pump that is about 3 yrs old.

I am hearing what I would call a "pulsing" soung coming from the compressor outside. The only reason I started noticing it - is beacuse the unit is outside my bedroom - and for the most part the compressor has been very quiet.

It doesn't happen all the time - but seems to be happening more often.

Any thoughts!

Thanks

Thanks for the response - It seems to be heating fine. I hear the unit go into defrost mode and then start back up. Everything seems to be working fine.

Just in the last few weeks this weird pulsing sound comes from the compressor. Hard to describe in words but similar to revving a car engine - over and over - like "vroom-voom-vroom-vroom" instead of a consistent hum that I'm used to hearing.

I've checked the reisters and with it 35 degress out - it's still pumping out 90 degree air.
