Hello all, would really appreciate a little help, our oven died last night.

We have a gas stove with electric igniters. The oven is not getting gas, and will not heat. Burners work fine, oven does not.

We started to bake corn bread last night. It actually came on for a few minutes, then just went off. As of now, there is no gas to the oven. Gas reaches the burners and do ignite.

Any advice, looks like we are looking at buying a new range this evening if there is not an easy fix. Please help!!

Is it possible the igniter to the oven dies, and therefore cuts off the gas to the oven? What is stumping me is why is there no gas to the oven?
Thank you!!!

Hello TBaxes and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and to the Gas Appliances topic.

Quickest, least expensive first attempt would be to replace the glow igniter. Hot Surface Igniter HSI. If it fails to glow it is likely burned out.

If it glows a dull orange color, it is to weak to ignite gas. Glows weakly or not at all, replace the igniter. Very likely resolve the problem.

Is it possible the igniter to the oven dies, and therefore cuts off the gas to the oven? What is stumping me is why is there no gas to the oven?

Answer to your the quote above is yes. No gas will come out of the ovens gas control valve if either condition described above exists.

Cautionary Reminder Note:
