Open the door to the metal box in the cellar. On the inside of the door there will be a schematic. On the schematic look for a model name, such as, Vista 10SE or 4110DL. Post back with this information and we can help you more.

You only found part of the system. That is the wireless receiver. There will be a larger metal box containing a battery, it will often be in a closet in the master bedroom, sometimes in a basement or utility room, in a few places just above the attic access.

90% of the time, there will be a wiring diagram on the inside of the access door that will give you the proper model number of the system.

I have the Honeywell K4392v2 M6983 REV keypad and the other day, it did a long beep, I checked it, and it said the battery was dead. How do I go about changing or fixing that. Is it actually something within the keypad or is it located with the rest of the security system?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The battery is in the white, beige or grey metal box somewhere in the house. The keypad is just an interface, it's not the system.

ok now I got the actual keypad back on and it is just showing ac up in the right hand corner of the display and FC to the left of that that goes on and off. The system is for my business and I only use the door beep part but now since I got the power back it does not do it anymore. Any suggestions?

Until you provide a system model number, we are stuck. There are several dozen ademco systems, many of which are compatible with that keypad model, and _all_ of them have different programming instructions.

From the FAQ sticky for this topic:

"Retrieving Installer code
Nearly all Ademco family (this includes First Alert, Security Link, and several ADT models) panels can retrieve the Installer code by disconnecting the battery, then the AC power. Wait a minute, then reconnect power in the opposite order. Within 50 seconds, on any keypad press * + # at the same time. Unless the system has had an installer lockout feature activated, the panel should go into program mode. The details by system will vary, but the programming section number that shows on the display will be the location for the installer code (on _most_ panels this will be 20). Key in # and the location number, and the panel will read back the installer code one digit at a time. Exit program mode using *99."

For a vista 20p. The command, once in installer progrmming is #20. Once you have the installer code, and have exited programming mode, enter: [installer code] + 8 + 02 + [new master code]. Do not hesitate more than a second or two between keystrokes.

You may want to disconnect the phone cord from the RJ block prior to doing the above. As the * & # buttons are offten set as a "panic" alarm

Not "often", they are set so on Ademco hardware by default, you actually have to jump through a lot of hoops to disable that function, and ADT has been known to dispatch panic alarms on even dormant accounts.
