Has anyone ever bought a heat pump system on ebay? If so, what do you look for? Also, will people install a unit that you already own?

A good dealer may not touch it. They are not getting any warranty on it from the company.
As for warranty, you may not get any support from.. say "Goodman" if that the unit you are looking at.
You are best to get a unit from a dealer, and you have warranty, and support if you do have issues with the system.
You may be saving some money up front, but in the long run, you may be paying a lot more than a unit you may of wished you done in the first place.

I agree with Jay. Don't buy any HVAC stuff from ebay. Get your local dealer to put it in and have a warranty.
Like buying a used car, sometimes you buy someone elses problems.

If you got the unit from a dealer, then you'll get the great warranty.
But not when you buy it anywhere on line.

Like jay's link from Goodman states and all the others are the same. You will get no manufactures warranty if you buy it on-line. If the seller warraties it you will more than likely be responsible for shipping charges.
Also most HVAC companies if they will even install it for you will add the mark-up they would be losing on the sale of the equipment to the install price.
