We are considering raising our house, to get a foundation put under it, however we will need to demo the addition off the deck. It is stick built, but has no real foundation under it, other than what appears to be cinderblock. It is attached partialling at the corner of the house, but that appears to be mainly just butted up against the main house and not really *attached* to it.

What is the best method of starting to demo this room? It has water and electric and is about 10ft x 10ft, and is attached at the side of the deck as well. The addition is actually partially on our neighbors land (long story) and to raise the house would need to be removed.

We are pretty handy and game to try doing it ourselves, if we have a type of idea where to start...

Demo is the reverse of building.

1. Disconnect power at service panel for this room.
2. Turn off water and gas to this room.
3. Remove covers, light switches, receptacles, and light fixtures.
4. Remove trim from doors and windows.
5. Remove covering from walls and ceiling. (Drywall, paneling, etc) Watch out for falling insulation from ceiling.
6. Remove plumbing and wiring.
7. Remove doors and windows.
8. Remove roof, roof sheathing, and roof framing.
9. Remove walls and ceiling framing.
10. Remove flooring and floor framing.
11. Remove foundation.

Be safe and watch out for falling objects.

Ken,

Thanks so much for the number by number...We will definitely be as safe as possible and watch out for falling stuff.

Anyone else wanting to add a word, idea or suggestion is definitely welcome.

Cheers!
