I just purchased a John Deere x300 riding mower and I'm having trouble engaging the blade. I've set my mower cutting height and I pulled up on the Mower/PTO Engagment Lever. The blade does not engage. What am I doing wrong?
Any help will be very much appreciated.

Sounds like you're doing the right things. I'd have a look to see if maybe the belt came off.
