Hello, everyone.
Question, my keypad says "check 27 family glass detector" - which i believe is the remote sensor that 'reads' the magnets in the door. we changed the battery, but nothing.
we have another component in another room, and it has a "enable LED" switch, that you can slide and the lights pop on....however, that isn't happening in the family room detector.
ADT will make us sign a 2 year contract before they even come out and see it.....any suggestions? we've changed the battery, opened - shut, switched back and forth! we are lost!
any help would be greatly appreciated and paid back in karma!:)

A check message on a wireless zone typically means the cover was removed from the transitter causing a tamper alarm. First, you need to make sure the cover is seated fully, then enter your code+off, twice in a row to clear the message.

have done that a hundred times. still nothing. the odd thing is that the LED won't light like the other one. any other suggestions out there?

The glass break detector does not read the magnets in the door. It is a rectagular object on the ceiling or wall near panes of glass, it will have 2 3 volt lithium batteries or one 9 volt battery depending on model. Make sure this is the device you are checking. If it is and it will still not clear, try replacing the battery(s) again. Even brand new batteries off the shelf can be duds. Sometimes the tamper switch can be damaged during service as well.
As far as ADT, you must not be monitored by them now, if they are wanting you to sign a contract before they service it. ADT will not service a site that does not have a monitoring agreement in place. If the device needs to be replaced you can either call a local service person that will do the work without a monitoring agreement or replace the unit yourself. You will need a new ademco rf glassbreak and an alpha keypad to program the new unit in.

that picture is definitely it. changed batteries 3 times now. i think the unit may need to be exchanged...hopefully i'll find someone who can do it without a contract.
thanks!

Ummm, if your glassbreak is a NX487, and you have a Safewatch Pro 2000 (a modified Ademco Vista 20se), then the two _cannot_ work together.
The NX487 is made by GE/ITI, your panel is made by Ademco/Honeywell. The two systems are incompatible.
Could you be identifying the wrong device?

Ya, my bad, it is the ademco unit that looks similar to that model. Here is a link:

okay, i think it is that one....they look alike. have had the system myself for 1 year, the prior owner had it close to 5 - it was installed by ADT and serviced by them until we bought the house.
the upside is that we have an identical unit in the kitchen which is only about 10 feet away (doorway/semi wall separating them)...and we have sensors on all the windows.
