It has a Fleck head that is a mechanical "on demand" type unit. I already bought and paid for it and will pick it up in a few days... Is this a decent unit? My water has a hardness of 25 plus .5 iron for a total hardness of 27. There are 4 people in the household... I am replacing a cheap 28000 grain kenmore that really never kept up. Any info is appreciated. I wish I would have found this place before the purchase!!!

That unit is far better than your previous one and should do an adequate job. Fleck makes a decent valve although not really the best out there. Purchase price may have been your deciding factor. Not to worry, though, it will work if properly set up with the right salt dosage and regeneration settings.
I personally recommend a sediment pre-filter. This will help prolong your softener and give you better service in the long run.
Good luck on your new investment.

Thanks for the info. My old system did not have a prefilter and lasted 8-9 years. I do not have any stuff in the water that I see now even when bypassed. It is a 50 year old well so nothing unless I chlorinate it. How long do you think a system like this would last? I am hoping another 10 plus years being a better and larger model then b4.

Rule of thumb: Multiply warranty by three and that could be your life on the system. Naturally, some die way before then and other last for years and years.
Those who maintain there unit well will likely see longer life. This can include high quality salt and prefiltration.
Good luck,

The addie system seems to do the trick. Its amazing not to get the ring in the tub, sink, toilet, and fixtures. I forgot how easy it is to rinse with soft water!!! I want to thank Andy for his input. All the stuff in the pamplet of softeners is really true! My present unit is leaps and bounds better then I ever remember my kenmore being. I remember someone saying to sprinkle iron out in the salt tank...does anyone know how much per bag to do???
