I am trying to repair an exterior faucet that is leaking. I am "assuming" it is from the washer on the inside. However, when taking the handle and screw off this morning, the handle would not come off and now is in 3 pieces. Any ideas on how to remove what is left to get to packing nut and finish the job?
Thanks.

If it is a normal frost proof faucet, you should be able to unscrew the packing nut with a wrench and continue unscrewing to remove the long stem, which has the washer on its end. You didn't say whether it leaked with the faucet off or while it was in use.

The faucet leaks while it is off. The problem is that what is left of the handle is preventing me from getting the packing nut off.
Thanks.

OOoo, you may want to post a couple of pictures of your faucet so we can see what you are seeing. You can post them on a site such as photobucket.com and give us the urls.
