I am wanting to refinish my maple bedroom set, it was my father's and is quite old, my question is the side panels on the dresser are a wood veneer the rest is solid maple.
What is the best way to remove the finish from that veneer?
It is old and thin but I am wanting to refinish in a lighter natural wood color, It currently is a reddish brown.
ANY HELP?
Thanks, MommaSue

If the veneer is not wrinkeled or curled, stip as you would any other piece of wood, but don't use water based strippers or water to clean up. Be gentle in scraping the surface. Sand lightly to get out the remaining stain, then refinish as you like.
