does anyone know where i can get a very short 1/4" probobly a #6 or 8 screw for my cabinets.when i bought the house i was refinishing the cabinets and many of the screws were missing.ive gone to wood working stores and they dont carry it. a longer screw thats just as thick pushes out the other side.

If nothing else, you could cut the longer screws to make what you need.

right now im talking to a screw making company in pensylvania, they might be able to make them for me.yeah cutting each one would be difficult.ive seen these screws before on other cabinets so somebody has got to be familiar with these.

I would try my local hardware store.

You have me curious... what in the heck is so thin that it needs a 1/4" screw???

I'm with sleeper - curious.
Perhaps you're measuring the shaft of the screw only?
Wood screws are commonly measured from the top of the head to the tip. A 1/4" screw of any shaft size would have 1/8" or less of thread.

The shortest screw I can think of is a 3/8" bugle head screw, that would be used to attach hinges or drawer slides to 1/2" thick stock. I've got a whole bag of them.

I've assembled quite a few cabinets and built some from scratch. I never had any need for a 1/4" screw. Like everyone else I'm curious about the application.
