i have a 21 hp briggs, in a troy built mower.. im changing the oil ,filters etc.. the engine drags some time i read some where the valve clarence needs adjusted.. i dont have a repair manual.. how do i go about adjusing the valves, and what do they set at.. mod#4075770292e troy built 809 tractor.

try to post the numbers from the engine itself, not the mower as this will tell those that know what engine you have and what the specs for it should be. In my opinion it most likely isnt a valve problem but a fuel problem causing it to drag. but post your engine numbers and I'm sure someone can steer you in the right direction. model type and code number together would be great.
