hi guys,

i had bought this dinning table it was wrapped in saranwarp..
we has it stored for about 10 months in the garage ..

now we unwraped the dinning table and it looks like the saranwrap has left marks on the table....
there were no marks before we wrapped it :(

i tried peeling it off but that did not work..
i tried various cleaners like hardwood cleaner, 409 and windex...
but nothing has worked..

can i you guys suggest something...

Alcohol will damage the finish if it's lacquer, which is what most commercially finished surfaces have. I would try a little mineral spirits in an inconspicuous place - if no damage to the finish, you're ok to try this and you've pretty much confirmed the finish is lacquer. If the mineral spirits damage the finish, then use rubbing alcohol to remove the marks.

Bad news is, I believe there's a definite possibility you will end up refinishing the table.

I think you may have to refinish the table - nail polish remover is pretty harsh.

i used nail polish only on a very small part..

i will try rubbing alcohol to remove the other saranwrap marks..
if i can remove them..
i think the wife will be able to live with the mess i made with the nail polish remover...

i wish i had waited for ur reply before trying out the STUPID nail polish remover...

I don't know that alcohol will be any safer to use than the nail polish remover. If the table was that expensive, you may want to consider having it professionally refinished.

I don't know what part of Jersey you're in, but most neighborhoods have a local newspaper and a local phone book. Either of these would be the best place to look, and because it's a large item, you want someone within close driving distance.
Pricing really varies, so there's no set price I can give you, but I can tell you it won't be cheap.

o.k i misspoke.. the whole dinning room set is for 3000 the table alone is 570$ just checked on line.

The nail polish is just a summge.. But you can notice it
the refinishing will cost as much as the Table it self , so that out..

can you guys suggest some product i could buy from Home depot or lowes that will make it look better..

any product that might work... i think it worth a try..

Thax for all your help
