I recently remodeled my kitchen, and the drywall contractors cut the holes for the ceiling junction boxes slightly larger than the canopies for my pendant lights, granted the canopies are rather small in diameter. As a result, the rough edges of the drywall are visible now that the pendants are hung. The lighting manufacturer doesn't offer any larger canopies. Do I have any options other than applying additional joint compound to fill the gaps?

If you can put small pieces of wood in the opening and screw to it, you will have something for the mud to hold to.

Welcome to the forums MMcKendry!

You should be able to lower the cover and then mud and tape the excess opening. Gently replace/tighten up the cover when finished.

Another option would be to get one of those medalions and install it between the light and the ceiling.
