How do I insulate between the joyces and the [not sure of the correct term] place where they meet the outside wall. There was pink batting in there, but we think the wind has pushed it out and now it is causing a cold spot behind the tub wall - the tub actually freezes in the winter in a spot about 6 inches in diameter... this spot directly corresponds to where the place between the two joyces would be...

So, did the insulation fall out from below the tub or from the outside wall? If from the outside wall, how do you know it fell? Do you have a crawlspace or a full basement where the tub is? Or is it on the 2nd floor? Does the tub faucet freeze or does the tub just get really cold?

If you need more insulation in the wall, do blown in cellulose. You need to drill a hole in the wall to blow it in. It will give you MUCH better insulating power that fiberglass will.

Oh, you said the insulation was blown out. Where did the wind come from? You probably will want to seal whatever hole the wind came from too.

the tub is on the 2nd floor of a two-storey [with finished bsmnt] semi-d. the tub is in the corner of two walls that are external the area below the tubs plumbing is the front entranceway ceiling - which is now all opened up due to a fix that was needed on the tub overflow seal at the tub.

the faucet is fine, just a cold spot that turns to a circle of ice on the tub wall at about -20 Celcius

we are just assuming the piece of pink insulation that is jammed in between the joyces has come out in that area, due to the location of the cold spot and the draft of air that can be felt.
