We have a 1 and a half year old water softener unit and our tenants didn't not add salt to the unit for approximately 6 months, is this permanent damage and should we have the unit replaced? any information would be great.

CAn you describe the valve, size of the tanks, number of people using the systems and the water quality test results?
Generally, there should not be any devastating damage to the unit but its life may have been cut short somewhat.
This is a common problem with common water treatment units, no one wants to take responsibility but everyone wants to complain. Sound familiar?
Get back with us on those questions, thanks.
