Help, I put a pot holder under a hot platter on my dining room table and the pattern of the pot holder in now on my table top. I tried mayonaise, furniture wax and orange oil and nothing works! Any suggestions?

Is the pattern of the hot pad impressed into the finish or are you just seeing a whitish discoloration in an otherwise smooth finish? Two different problems with two different solutions...

The pattern is in the finish I believe. If you look at the table horizontally you can see the impression of the pad. The finish is rough.

You might try some plain white toothpaste. Works like a mild rubbing compound.

If it is discoloration, I have used silver polish with great results. If it is actually impressed into the finish, refinishing the top of the table may be neccesary.

I have to go along with Herm. It MAY be possible to sand out the impression and recoat the top, but I wouldn't count on it.
